GoogleImageProxy
GoogleImageProxy is assigned to the Preview category by BotScope. Detection is based on the user-agent string. Current pattern:
GoogleImageProxy
Gmail image proxy. When someone opens an email with image links from your site in Gmail, Google fetches the image via this proxy (privacy protection). You see this IP, never the actual mail recipient's.
Link preview bots are triggered when a human shares your link in a messaging app or platform. They fetch Open Graph and Twitter Card meta tags to render the preview. The IP belongs to a real user — BotScope therefore hashes it via SHA-256.
BotScope maps GoogleImageProxy requests onto your session timeline — you spot bursts, can filter them per path, and compare against other bots in the same category.
