Sistrix
Sistrix is assigned to the SEO category by BotScope. Detection is based on the user-agent string. Current pattern:
SistrixBot|SISTRIX[\s_-]?Crawler
Sistrix is one of the most established German SEO suites. Historically, Sistrix crawled under the user-agent Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; SISTRIX Crawler; +https://crawler.sistrix.net/), but that subdomain has been offline since 2018.
Today Sistrix primarily uses two other bots: SeekportBot (acquired by Sistrix in 2020) for indexing/search-engine crawling, and the Optimizer bot for on-site audits in the Sistrix tool. If the legacy SistrixBot UA still shows up in your logs, it's usually legacy traffic from third-party systems.
SEO tool crawlers build internal databases for tools like Ahrefs, Semrush, Sistrix or Majestic. They have no direct SEO impact — only the tool accesses the data. Crawl frequency grows with your domain authority.
BotScope maps Sistrix requests onto your session timeline — you spot bursts, can filter them per path, and compare against other bots in the same category.
robots.txt directive for Sistrix
If you don't want Sistrix to crawl your site, add the following block to your /robots.txt. This works only for bots that honour robots.txt — malicious crawlers ignore it.
User-agent: SistrixCrawler Disallow: /
